The Speaking Volumes website is designed to be fully inclusive and is accessible to users with screen readers. A text only link on each page will take users to a text only version of the website, however this facility should only be used if difficulties are encountered on the main site.

Our site is all about the enjoyment of reading and if you look through the pages you will find lots of reading suggestions, local reading related events, reviews of talking books and a noticeboard to give you the chance to swap views and opinions with other readers. You can hear a reading group in action and if you are interested, find out about local groups you can join.
The site is fully interactive and you can email us with your own reading ideas and reviews, ask questions, or get involved in any of the debates.

Speaking Volumes is supported by MLA Yorkshire, and the Arts Council. All the library authorities in the Yorkshire and Humber are taking part.
The Speaking Volumes initiative aims to bring the enjoyment of reading and involvement in reading activities to people with a visual impairment through the public libraries in all fifteen local authorities throughout the Yorkshire and Humber region.
All books reviewed on this website are available in audio book format.
